Our vision A SUSTAINABLE GARMENT IS ABOVE ALL
ONE THAT STANDS THE TEST OF TIME

Soeur stands for a certain vision of slow fashion. Well-made pieces that can be worn and re-worn, mixed and reinvented. Focusing on the long term is a duty that does not only apply to our collections.

We also make a point of establishing strong relationships with our partners. Some have been with us since the beginning and half have been with us for at least five years.

These long-term commitments enable them to acquire the financial stability necessary to implement social programs in their factories and in turn improve their production chains.

OUR PRIMARY PRINCIPLE PROXIMITY

For the Spring-Summer 2023 collection, more than 67% of the pieces have a production of short-range origin (Europe and Maghreb / North Africa).

OUR BELIEF BETTER KNOWLEDGE MEANS BETTER MANUFACTURING:
TRACEABILITY

This is the first / primary concern of our CSR approach, and it is of essential importance. Traceability makes it possible for us to carry out social audits, improve our practices and guarantee transparency to our clients by being fully aware of each location and the procedures implemented during the various stages of production.

In March 2022, Soeur joined the ICS (Initiative for Compliance and Sustainability), in order to assess the working conditions of its suppliers and support them in undertaking improvements.

This enables us to reduce social and environmental risks as well as continuously enhancing the quality of our products and their sustainability.

DID YOU KNOW?

A garment’s production chain comprises 4 main stages: production and extraction of raw materials; transformation of raw materials (spinning); weaving, knitting, dyeing or printing; and finally manufacture.

OUR PARTNERS A COUNTRY AND ITS KNOW-HOW

No location has been chosen by chance. It is the result of a careful selection based on local tradition or know-how/savoir-faire, on recognised expertise or on the particular commitment of our suppliers. Here again our objective remains the same, a maximum quality requirement for a truly sustainable garment.

IN TUNISIA, DENIM

Our partner has invested in washing and dyeing machines that consume less water. This has reduced the amount of water used in the stages of the manufacturing process by 70%.

IN CHINA, SILK

China is the historical birthplace of silk. For more than 4,000 years, this precise science has been perpetuated through each era. 100% of our silks are of Chinese origin and certified OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.

IN PORTUGAL, FOOTWEAR

Our shoes are made in Portuguese workshops/ateliers where the know-how has been passed down from generation to generation. We have chosen each for its expertise in a particular field.

IN INDIA, BLOUSES AND SHIRTS

We have a special trusting relationship with our cotton supplier, located near Delhi. When it was established 14 years ago, the factory had only a few machines. Today, it boasts hundreds of employees.

IN ROMANIA AND LATVIA, TROUSERS AND JACKETS

Our partners in Western Europe manufacture the majority of our jackets and trousers with high-quality Portuguese, Turkish and Spanish fabrics, in accordance with the precise instructions of our Paris design studio.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT TOWARDS MORE SUSTAINABLE PROCESSES

We make a point of prioritising the use of more sustainable raw materials in the development of our collections. For this, we have set ourselves a criterion which serves as a guide. To be considered eco-friendly, a product must be composed of at least 70% eco-friendly materials.

The Spring-Summer 2023 collection includes 81% eco-friendly pieces.

Regarding manufacturing processes, we are constantly looking for techniques that lessen our impact, whether in terms of the use of resources or emissions created. We utilise vegetable tanning and ozone washing, for example.

We are also working to minimise our footprint through our packaging, in particular by reducing the use of single-use plastic. This extends across the chain as a whole.

In 2023, almost 100% of our polybags contain at least 30% recycled material. These bags protect the garments during transport.

All our hangtags are made from recycled card, and our shopping bags and tissue paper are of FSC®-certified paper. For our online orders, we use recycled and recyclable FSC® cardboard packages.
